While we would love to have watched Jon Snow relentlessly bring down the mood with a surprise Saturday Night Live hosting spot, Kit Harington’s appearance over the weekend was just as startling.

The actor just closed the book on his 8-year Game of Thrones career, and any big break-up calls for an even bigger reinvention. Decked out in a peach suit and black turtleneck, the King of the North arrived uncharacteristically clean-shaven for his hosting debut. “I just shaved my beard, so this is more of a pre-pubescent Jon Snow,” he told the crowd.

Jon Snow isn't known for zingers, so Harington relished the chance to flex his comedic muscles. In his opening monologue, the actor joked about the non-Game of Thrones credits on his IMDB page. "I was also in a movie called Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. Anyone a fan?" he asked. "No, I didn’t think so."

Of course, Harington can't leave his house without having to fend off a barrage of Game of Thrones questions – even from his co-stars, who were scattered around the studio audience.

“Could you just give us a general sense of how [the show] ends?” asked co-star Emilia Clarke, who popped up out of the crowd.

“Wait a second, Emilia, you’re in the show. You know already,” Harington replied.

"Well yeah, but you know, I forgot," said Clarke. "I mean it’s been so damn long since the last season. Plus a lot of my scenes are talking to a dragon, which is just a tennis ball on a green pole. So I’ve no idea what’s actually happening.
