While madcap film Suicide Squad wasn't exactly a critical hit, Marvel are nonetheless rinsing the cast for spin-offs. Not only are we getting a Joker standalone film from Jared Leto, but Harley Quinn is also set for a solo adventure.

Today Deadline report that Ewan McGregor officially joined the cast of Birds of Prey alongside Margot Robbie, who is reprising her role as Quinn. They also confirm that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is playing Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell will play Black Canary.

In the film, "Black Mask is a Gotham City mob boss aka Roman Sionis who leads the False Face Society gang. In the comics, he killed his wealthy parents in order to take control of their corporation, but he was a terrible businessman and lost everything. He blames others for his shortcomings with Bruce Wayne being one of his targets."

Earlier this week director Cathy Yan revealed that the film would be R rated and feature a "half-Asian character, Cassandra Cain, who in the comics is one of the vigilantes who takes on the role of Batgirl".

Birds of Prey is expected to be released February 2020, so you know what everyone's Halloween costumes will be that year...
