No doubt you’ve drunkenly smashed your iPhone screen at least once, and chances are you swerved the pricey Apple store in favour of a local repair shop.

Well, that budget choice might come back to bite you if you own an iPhone 8. Repair shop owners are reporting that the newest update, iOS 11.3, is wreaking havoc on phones with third-party faces.

Experts told Motherboard that the update is ‘breaking’ iPhone 8s. “This has caused my company over 2,000 reshipments,’ said Aakshay Kripalani, CEO of Injured Gadgets, a firm based in Georgia. Customers are annoyed.’

Some repair shops have even refused to repair the iPhone 8.

Michael Oberdick, the owner of iOutlet in Ohio, said, ‘We don’t even do the 8 repairs this year, on purpose. I had a really good feeling that something like this was going to happen again.’

Apple’s newest update recently came under scrutiny for ‘throttling’ handsets, decreasing the batteries and slowing down iPhones as they age.
