Jeff Goldblum's Ask Me Anything on Reddit enhanced his vibe as everyone's favourite beautifully tailored jazz uncle, and as well as showing that he types in exactly the same way as he speaks.

Chatting about his films, he called his frequent collaborator Wes Anderson "a genius".

"He makes landmark movies that I am so proud to be in," Goldblum said. "He is delightful in every way and so are all the actors and artists that he attracts around him."

He's not really thought about getting into directing himself, though: "Jeez, I don't know, let me think about it!" He's set to star as a villain in Hotel Artemis, which is out in the UK on 20 July, and found his scenes "entirely nutritious".

Despite returning to roles in Jurassic Park and Independence Day, he's not too keen on the idea of digging back into his canon again.

"Hmmm, hmmm. Hmmmm," he said, very Jeff Goldblum-ily. "Not unless you have a good idea - I think they're all safely tucked in their beds and sleeping soundly."

Then there was the really big stuff. How does Jeff Goldblum like his eggs? "I'd like to say shirred, but I don't even know what that is, it just sounds exotic," he said. "Really, I crack them in the pan and then just drag them around. I think it's called... 'scrambled and rustic', then I like to mix some shredded cheese in them."

Some other highlights: his favourite Jeff is Jeff Bridges ("especially in the The Fabulous Baker Boys"), fatherhood is "spectacular" ("Entirely transformational and everything is a boon. In fact, I'm changing my name to Daniel Boon"), The Great Gatsby is his favourite book because he read it "from cover to cover out loud to my wife Emilie on our first couple of dates", and despite being "an adventurous eater" has never knowingly encountered a steamed ham.

Surprisingly, though, he doesn't have the secret to infinite beauty: "Oh golly. Well, let's see... I have no secret, but I know for myself I'm most attracted to inner beauty, wherein lies the mysteries of the infinite."

And finally: would he rather take on one horse-sized duck, or a hundred duck-sized horses? "Well I'm a lover not a fighter, but I think I could take on that big duck." You'd back him, wouldn't you?
