Yesterday's news that Henry Cavill very probably won't be returning as Superman, and that Ben Affleck may also have been told to clear his Batdesk and ushered out of the revolving Batdoors, is clearly quite sad for them.

It's not bad news for all the other lantern-jawed leading man, though, who are all presumably standing in front of the mirror practicing making their voice go all deep and Christian Bale-gruff.

Jon Hamm might very well be one of those men, after admitting that he could be persuaded to follow Affleck as Batman.

"I'd probably fit the suit. I'd have to work out a lot, which I don't love," he told Graham Bensinger on In Depth. "But, I am sure there's an interesting version of that being out there. And if they wanted to tap me on the shoulder and ask me to do it, why not?"

To be fair, if you're after an incredibly wealthy but disaffected and cynical lantern-jawed man, you want Don Draper. That said, he's never actually been approached to become Bruce Wayne."I have never had a conversation with anybody about it, literally," he said. "And I've sat in the room with all these guys. I have never been offered anything. I think the internet wants what it wants. But, I mean, a lot of people have to sign off on that, obviously not just the internet."

Hamm's got a big love of comic books, which is a good start at the very least. "I am a huge comic book fan, always have been," he said. "I've read comic books since I was 9 or younger. And I'm pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them. And I like the genre, and I like when they're done well."
