At face value, these new S22 handsets aren’t that much of an upgrade over the older S21, featuring the same silky-smooth 120Hz refresh rate on the display to help you glide through your social media pages.
However, there are some impressive changes to the camera setup to help you take even better photos and videos, especially on nights out in low light.
All three phones will have improved photography tech to help steady your hand when snapping and they track multiple faces while filming.
The phone will use all three lenses (four in the case of the S22 Ultra) and will zoom in or expand the shot to include up to 10 faces, following each one so they always stay in frame. It’s a fun feature to watch work in real life, and it should help to grab a hectic bar-side video while everyone is scrambling to grab their drinks.
The smallest, entry-level option is the standard S22. We say small, but it still feels pretty large in your hand at 6.1 inches. You get the triple-lens setup, a new processor to keep things running smoothly, and a pretty decent battery.
Increasing by .5-inches is the S22+. The bigger display is great if you’re catching up on the latest season of Ozark on Netflix or gaming, and takes full advantage of the smoother frame rate, though it does step up in price by about £200.
Lastly, the Ultra is the premium model that is only .2 inches bigger but feels and looks great in your hand. It has the additional 10MP telephoto lens on the back, increasing the count to four in total for clear, zoomed in pictures, and enhanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) to boost the detail of your shots, even when taken at extremely far away.
It looks like Samsung is discontinuing the Galaxy Note series, as it’s now including the brilliant S Pen in the Ultra. It slots right into the bottom of the phone, and can be used to write down notes and as a stylus to tap open apps and links.

You can reduce this down by up to £200 if you trade in your old phone, and keep in mind you’ll also need to buy/hold onto a SIM card from one of the networks to get data and minutes.
If you’d prefer, you can shop with Currys to buy the phone outright, though there are options to get the phone with data for a monthly cost. There are free deliveries on all your purchases, though the phone is not available to collect from your nearest store.
