For many years the world has wondered what's behind Chris Hemsworth's jacked physique, and it appears the answer was staring us in the face all along: food. Lots of it.

The God of Thunder's personal chef has revealed the Marvel star's daily bulking diet, which consists of 4500 calories split across 10 meals.

Australian chef Dan Churchill, who provides recipes for Hemsworth's app, Centr, told the Daily Mail he's not afraid to sacrifice flavour to 'get the job done' and that Hemsworth's favourite foods include steak, rice, broccoli, chicken and banana protein shakes.

According to the celebrity chef, one of Hemsworth's go-to drinks is a protein shake with banana, two dates, almond milk, and a scoop of protein – a standard DIY post-workout shake that most of us can identify with. However, it's his daily diet that separates him from us mere mortals.

For reference, the average daily calorie recommendations for men, as outlined by the NHS are 2500 calories. Hemsworth requires another whopping 2000 calories on top of this number – these extra meals 10 meals are a solution to get more food in and not feel too full.

While what is actually contained in Hemsworth's meal plan is still kept to secrecy, a typical dish containing 450 calories could (roughly) look like:

  • An entire beef steak of 200 grams
  • 100 grams of cooked white rice
  • 50 grams of cooked broccoli

On its own, the meal doesn't look out of place in bodybuilder's lunchbox. However, when multiplied by 10, it is quite a feat of food consumption.

The Extraction star has previously shared his daily diet, and that time it included a meal plan rich in white fish and greens. A somewhat leaner approach than the 4500 calories currently prescribed, perhaps meaning Hemsworth is attempting to build muscle and bulk up after he announced he will take a break away from filming.

Regardless of how palatable his daily diet of broccoli and steak is, it's clear he is committed to maintain his coveted physique. And while it may be a long wait until the next Thor movie hits theatres, Hemsworth is certainly trying to stay in peak condition.
