As one of the more unexpected appointments within the fashion industry, Riccardo Tisci's first curated collection since succeeding Christopher Bailey at Burberry is a highly anticipated one. And the early signs are good.

The Italian designer took to Instagram over the weekend to provide a taste of Burberry wares-in-waiting for the upcoming SS19 pre-collection.

Launched under a title of 'B Classic', the preview centres upon Burberry's signature outerwear - the backbone of the label - alongside wider cuts, neutral colourways and 80s-inspired tartans: the latter being a sign that Tisci may tap London's cultural history beyond the postcodes of Mayfair and Bond Street.

Denim, trainers and knitwear were also prominently featured, and the focus upon the traditional is a surprising yet fresh move from a designer known for darker graphic prints and heavy embellishment.

If that's piqued your interest, it'll be another four long months until we see Tisci's Burberry work in full. We've a feeling it'll be worth the wait.
