Well, it wouldn’t be Wimbledon without a sighting of David Beckham sitting courtside; his attendance is as expected as a Carlos Alcaraz win these days. And three days into the tennis tournament, the former footballer and now owner of Inter Miami was spotted looking his absolute best – another guarantee from the perennially well-dressed man – in the Royal Box with his mother.
The thing about Becks’ SW19 ‘fits is that they hardly change year on year. He follows a time-tested formula: smart bottoms, a slim-fit suit jacket and a shirt and tie combo. Job done. Still, it’s never boring – the sheer amount of annual best-dressed coverage shows its appeal – because he’ll always tweak it to not look exactly the same. And this year, he’s gone head-to-toe earth tones – even his watch strap matches.
Who?
The 48-year-old hardly needs a sartorial introduction. But if you’re more familiar with his crossing capabilities than his style, expect to see the guy in a rotation of louche suiting and tee-and-jeans-combo now he’s permanently off the pitch.
Where?
At Wimbledon’s Centre Court watching the most anticipated match of the day; Jordan Thompson vs Novak Djokovic.
What’s he wearing?
As per, DB has rocked up in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label Kent blazer, cream trousers, a white shirt and matching print tie and pocket square.
But what’s particularly caught our eye is his colour-coordinating timepiece: the Tudor Black Bay 58. This iteration has a matte green dial (matching the grass on court) and dark brown alligator strap that ties with the suit colours. A perfect pairing, in our minds.
How do I recreate it?
The key here is to stick to a colour and pick out particular shades from it. Beckham has opted for brown, and has pulled out hues from its spectrum for this look. Balance the lack of jewellery with a hefty watch on your wrist, ideally within the same tone as the outfit.
Mistakes to avoid?
There’s no need to incorporate every shade from one colour’s range, use no more than three. And make sure your shirt is neutral; if Beckham was to wear a brown version the who ‘fit would be completely off.
