The British Fashion Council has just appointed David Beckham as its latest ambassadorial president, with Britain's best-dressed man (and former England captain, if you can remember that far back) tasked with raising the profile of British designers around the world.

Before that, he kicks off his new role with a visit to educational fashion schemes and manufacturers on Manchester (where else?) today.

“I’m really excited about promoting fashion as an opportunity to all kids across the country, regardless of their background or their gender,” Beckham said of his latest gig to The Guardian.

“That means creating more awareness for boys to get involved with fashion... helping them understand that creative opportunities are available to them too.”

What's more, it coincides with Victoria Beckham's decision to move her show to London from New York, cementing the clan as the First Family of British fashion (as if they weren't already).
