Forget about 'Sleazecore' - that bizarre summer fever that saw the likes of Justin Bieber and Pete Davidson (who again?) briefly exalted to the status of style icons because they wore basketball shorts, odd socks, dirty Vans and tie-dye t-shirts - 2019 (for winter, at least) is all about the High-End Euro Hiker. As demonstrated by reclusive 'fit god Frank Ocean, out and about on the streets and F-rows of Paris.

Frank Ocean is an emotionally unavailable middling Swiss insurance executive with a grey Audi Q4 and a wife who resents him. His only respite comes from the hikes he takes, alone, in the mountains a short drive from his Geneva home.

Frank Ocean willingly completed his Duke of Edinburgh and has done the 3 Peaks challenge four times.

There's already been a huge spike in popularity for brands like Patagonia and The North Face over the last couple of years, but what makes Frank's look different is A.) How 'normal' it is, and B.) The clever use of just the right amount of colour and luxury to remind you that, yes, he does have f*ck you money and the confidence to match.

The jacket is by Mammut, a Swiss outdoors brand that makes ski jackets and windbreakers, while the hat is by Arc'teryx - a high, high, high-tech Canadian label that makes clothes for people that climb mountains and ski down really steep ones and will spend months getting a zip just right. In 2019, 'functionality' is the new luxury and Ocean's outfit epitomises it. Oh - except for the dark green leather tote. That's 2017 Phoebe Philo-era Céline.

So there you have it: this winter, it's all about dressing like you know how to pitch a tent and cook a tin of beans over a campfire in the Lake District, except you're driving there in a G-Wagon and your luggage costs more than a two-week holiday in the Maldives.

That's that High-End Euro Hiker aesthetic, baby!
