The Best-Dressed Men at the Oscars 2023 Took Calculated Risks
The Academy Awards are back. Here's what the red carpet had to offer
Roll up, roll up, the Oscars are back! If you stayed up into the early morning in the hope of catching another Slap-level controversy: sorry, but you wasted your time, and all those Red Bulls are probably beginning to feel like a terrible idea. But it was a good night at the Dolby Theatre nonetheless, celebrating a really good year of cinema.
There was plenty to rave about. Everything Everywhere All At Once brought back seven(!) awards, including Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh’s role – the first Asian person to win in this category – and Best Actor, where Ke Huy Quan gave a heartfelt speech about his journey to that moment. Elizabeth Banks invited Cocaine Bear to help her present the Oscar for visual effects, and Hugh Grant gave a meme-worthy awkward interview to Ashley Graham ahead of the ceremony.
On the red carpet (or rather champagne carpet, in this case), attendees didn’t waste the opportunity to make sartorial history. Many ditched the traditional tuxedo for more contemporary designs, often embellished with brooches or jewels for a touch of glam. Find our selection of the best-dressed below, including the likes of Paul Mescal, Austin Butler and Lenny Kravitz.
