Yesterday, McDonald’s launched its ‘As Featured In’ campaign which, as the name suggests, plays on the fact that the Golden Arches have long loomed over our pop culture diets, too.

You see, it draws from moments in TV and film in which the fast food restaurant appears, from Richie Rich to Seinfeld, Friends to Coming to America to Loki, with corresponding merch and dips and all that good stuff. As a side of sorts to the global project, the fast food restaurant has tapped London-based skate brand Palace to create a 15-piece collection, set to drop tomorrow.

The limited line consists of t-shirts and hoodies, all done up in the restaurant marque's house colours. An early favourite with the hype crowd is a graphic tee that imagines a dual-branded restaurant sign accompanied by a sub-sign that reads "100% I've never had a bad McDonald's" in a style reminiscent of the notoriously unhelpful but very funny product descriptions on the Palace webstore.

Three skateboard decks are also being released as part of the collaboration, because it wouldn't be a Palace project without some special-edition skater gear. Naturally, they can be used for their intended purpose, but are just as likely to be considered wall art.

Neither Palace nor McDonald’s is a stranger to an offbeat clothing collab. The former has partnered with the likes of Harrods, Gucci, WWE and Stella Artois; the latter has allowed the likes of Cactus Plant Flea Market, Cactus Jack (Travis Scott’s multi-purpose label), Clot and Eric Emanuel to exploit its world-famous visual identity.

So, what makes this collection distinctive? In short, it's confidence in simplicity. The most effective pieces depend on nothing more than the ironic unification of the Palace wordmark and the famous Maccies logo.
