Very few people have managed to achieve Style Icon status. There are the age-old visionaries, like Steve McQueen, whose outfits are imprinted into our memories with a sepia-toned finish. They’re the type that you can rely on when you’re rushing out the door and you just need to look good. Simple, suave and easy to recreate with basic sartorial ingredients; it’s a failsafe as old as The Great Escape.

Then, you have those that have almost instantaneously become the talk of the town because they just have it. They’re all over your IG feeds, nonchalantly dressed head to toe in pieces that are on your Mr Porter wishlist. They may be that zeitgeisty, of-the-moment star, but just because they’re everywhere and anywhere (sometimes just a bit too much) that doesn’t mean their outfits should be dismissed.

Pedro Pascal is the latest to fall into this category, and for good reason. The 47-year-old has been all over our screens in the past few years, and if his recent looks are anything to go by, his spot on the end of year best-dressed lists will be all but secured.

Case in point: his recent ensemble for the recently opened ‘Forge’ experience. Unlike the armour Pascal dons for Mandalorian, the Chilean-American actor layered a tight, crochet-esque cropped Acne Studios cardigan over a grey tank and styled them with wide-leg red trousers. Sure, these pieces may be slightly intimidating for those who don’t regularly walk the red carpet, but Pascal wears it with the type of confidence that only a man who’s unafraid to experiment with his dressing can. He pulls it off, and so can you.

This is just another instalment of ‘Great Outfits from Pascal’. His Saturday Night Live! hosting gig saw him dressed in a silk Valentino shirt in a bright violet hue – a colour that can deter even the most OTT dressers – among other bold garments. He happily embraces the classics too; a simple white suit jacket with bowtie was his attire to the Venice Film Festival last September. And for off-duty moments, the Last Of Us star opts for a playful shirt, as proven when he was spotted with co-star Bella Ramsey wearing a Nanushka embroidered number in L.A.

His sartorial rise coincides with his increasingly growing CV. As well as starring in two of TV’s most popular shows – the series remake of the famed zombie-game seems to be gaining more viewers weekly – he recently expressed interest in joining the Marvel universe during an interview with WIRED. While nothing is confirmed, it doesn’t seem like an unlikely career move for a man now synonymous with the Star Wars enterprise.

This could be his year; workwise and clothing-wise. It might even go as far as winning best-dressed star of 2023 – not a real award, granted, but one that many desire. We’ll be following closely to see if Pascal is in the running, and as he already has an Instagram page dedicated to documenting all his best looks, it seems we won’t be the only ones.
