Just after the turn of the millennium, Stüssy UK’s Michael Koppelman and Nike’s Fraser Cooke joined forces on the Swoosh’s first project with a clothing company. The result was the Stüssy x Nike Huarache LE – a highly-desired tread credited as the crep that kickstarted the sneakerverse’s obsession with fashion collaborations. 22 years later, sneaker zealots worldwide are champing at the bit to cop the latest model born from the alliance: the Stüssy x Nike Air Max 2013.

By fusing elements of the Air Max 2013 and the little-known Air Max 2015, Stüssy and Nike have formed a forward-thinking sneak complete with a sporty mesh upper, toe-to-heel Air sole, Swoosh à la Nike x Cactus Jack (it’s reversed) and dual-branded tongue. Alongside the more conventional-looking pink and black iterations, there's the 'fossil' colourway that continues the collab's recent tradition of releasing a hemp-inspired adaptation of each model (see, for reference, the Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 ‘Fossil’, Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Fossil’, Nike Air Force 1 Mid ‘Fossil’). This special edition version is distinguishable not only by its earthy texture but also by its rope laces and encased Air midsole.

The Stüssy x Nike Air Max 2013 is scheduled to drop on Friday 12th August at 8am on the Nike SNKRS app. Whilst you wait, take the time to explore Stüssy’s latest collection available at Hip, Size and Selfridges. In case you’re wondering, it’s the new season pink joggers that have caught our eye – pants we plan to pair with the ‘Pink’ Stüssy x Nike Air Max 2013s, if we manage to beat you to them.
