Back in the December of 2019 (remember that? When we were all frolicking in grassy glades and shaking hands?), Prada unveiled a brand new series available exclusively in Europe: the Timecapsule collection.

As each drop sees a remix of the classic Hawaiian shirt – the Italian megaweight was one of the chief architects of the big and boxy camp collar revival – a limited production run of just 50 items has seen Timecapsule pieces become some of the most sought-after in menswear. And this month's may well just be the grailiest yet.

Constructed in a heavier poplin cotton, the bowling shirt takes its cue from the racing stripes of yore, when cars were a lot more handsome and a lot more likely to explode on the fourth corner of Le Mans. What's more, the motif is repeated to the front with a geometric 'P' graphic and further Prada branding above the chest pocket.

None of this is going anywhere anytime soon. The bowling shirt is slowly moving its way up the rankings to become an enduring menswear classic once more, with labels increasing their output with each passing season. Again, you can thank Prada. And as for the boxier fit, loose and slightly billowy has become the centre point of silhouettes once again, skinny and fitted no longer the new normal. Yes, again, you can thank Prada.

See, we told you it was good.

Available from 7 May at prada.com from 3pm CET, priced £687
