Soho is no stranger to members clubs, and Apartment 58 is the latest addition; a well-appointed space on Poland Street with a novel and ‘friendly’ concept behind their meeting and bar areas — available for both work and play.
The idea is that this is a place for creatives and freelancers to socialise, meet and work - even host events. Alan Grant is the founder (or ‘landlord’), and with a strong track record including Notting Hill Arts Club and Cherry Jam, he is promising big things.
Once you’ve become a member (or ‘friend’) of Apartment 58, you are given your own key, as well as access to the tempting range of iPads and iMacs dotted around the premises. The bar staff are friendly and well-versed in their cocktails (some have been plucked from Soho House) and, if you’re feeling peckish, Apartment 58 have set up their very own gourmet delivery service, handpicking the best dishes from the surrounding cafes and restaurants of Soho.
Two more Apartments – in Shoreditch and Notting Hill – will open in London by 2013, with locations in Paris, Milan and Berlin all on the cards over the next few years. Flat sharing has never sounded so tempting.
