Brent Pankhurst, tonsorial consultant to movers and shakers in finance, fashion, media and entertainment, is a man accustomed to greeting his well-heeled clients with a handshake and their first name. "The reason we have so many repeat customers," Pankhurst says, "is that we’ve endeavoured to create a safe haven for men to come and relax."
In Pankhurst London’s new opening in Newburgh Street, that safe haven has manifested itself as a club-like space where you can enjoy an espresso or whisky (or both) while you wait for your haircut (£50). Mentioning no names, but there are those who have been known to turn up and avail themselves of the hospitality without ever going near a pair of scissors.
For those opting for a shave, the hot towel face massage (£60) comes highly recommended. And to take home: Pankhurst’s own line of grooming products.
