Chris Pratt has responded to the backlash over recent comments he made regarding his daughter.

Back in November, the Marvel star shared a post on Instagram praising his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, saying: "She's given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter."

The post attracted controversy on social media, with some perceiving the line to allude to the fact that his son with ex-wife Anna Faris, Jack, was born a few months premature and has had health issues since.

Speaking to Men's Health about the backlash, Pratt said: "I said something like, 'Find someone who looks at you the way my wife looks at me.'

"And then I gave her some shit in the thing and said, 'But I love you. I'm so thankful for my wife – she gave me a beautiful, healthy daughter'.

"And then a bunch of articles came out and said, 'That's so cringeworthy. I can't believe Chris Pratt would thank her for a healthy daughter when his first child was born premature. That's such a dig at his ex-wife'.

"And I'm like, 'That is f**ked up'. My son's gonna read that one day. He's nine. And it's etched in digital stone. It really f**king bothered me, dude. I cried about it. I was like, 'I hate that these blessings in my life are – to the people close to me – a real burden'."

Meanwhile, Pratt has also revealed why he doesn't like being called Chris, explaining that he normally goes by his last name or initials with friends.

"No-one calls me Chris. My friend, Chad – I went golfing with my friend, Chad, my pastor the other day and he was like, 'No-one calls you Chris? I'm gonna call you Chris. Alright, Chris. You're up'," he told SiriusXM's Pop Culture Spotlight With Jessica Shaw.

"And I was like, 'No, it feels weird. It's not my name. Don't call me Chris'."
