If you have spent recent weeks desperately in search of spots to enjoy a drink in the sunshine, you'll be more than aware that London just doesn't have enough rooftop bars compared to the abundance of skyscraper sun traps in Miami, Los Angeles or New York. Even closer to home the likes of Barcelona and Amsterdam put us to shame when it comes to outdoor drinking holes.

Fortunately The Standard hotel have seen fit to remedy that just in time for the better weather becoming a more permanent fixture in your life, with a new rooftop bar inspired by the ironic space at their Manhattan hotel.

Having opened on 1 May, The Standard Rooftop features an open-air bar on the 10th floor of the hotel, nestled above their popular restaurant Decimo. Surrounded by city views that twinkle as the sun dips behind the skyline, revellers can drop by to enjoy cocktails on tap and dine from an NYC-approved hot dog stand.

Booking is now open to reserve tables for drinks and food, but later in the summer the space will open up for the unorganised amongst us who don't book everything months in advance. Expect the party atmosphere to kick up a notch with festival-style music to soundtrack the forthcoming warmer evenings on the rooftop.
