The arrival of the first full trailer for the fifth season of Peaky Blinders landed with an extremely loud bang - there's explosions, tommy guns, a bloke on a crucifix and, naturally, a bit where Tommy Shelby and the gang stomp five-abreast in the middle of the street like human geese.

But one fan reckons they've seen a more subtly sad plotpoint seeded in the trailer.

"Does it look to anyone else that little Charlie won’t be alive at the end of this season?" asked u/democraticbunny on Reddit. As evidence, they put forward three key moments.

That's your classic graveside angle right there. What else is there to look at on the ground with a notably singular child? Where's Ruby's brother, if that tot is Ruby? According to the next clue, he's six feet under having been sadly exploded.

This is the key. We get two angles on this one.

Now, that doesn't look much like a boy's head. If it is Tommy's son, it's his large adult son. Take a look at this reverse angle though.

That definitely looks like a boy. A beefy boy, for sure, but a boy nonetheless. Maybe he's just an early developer. Imagine him steaming through defences, the finest outside wing-half in the Birmingham under-11s after-school league. He'd be unstoppable.

Not much of a surprise but she is the boy's aunt, so you'd hope she'd be quite cut up about Charles' untimely death. So, not conclusive by any means, but there's some solid sleuthing in there. We'll find out soon enough. Hopefully.
