When it comes to luxury fashion, very few people get their hands on couture creations. But a new exhibition in Milan promises to put you in touching distance.

As one of the pillars of Italian fashion, Dolce & Gabbana’s couture collections have been eagerly awaited year on year since they launched Alta Moda in 2012, and Alta Sartoria as the male counterpart in 2015 (a few years ago, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana revealed to WWD that half of their couture clientele is made up of men).

In the From Heart To The Hands: Dolce & Gabbana exhibit – the first to display such an array of D&G designs – expect not only to find the beautifully crafted garments, but the inspiration points that ignite the designers' ideas.

Each room is centred on a part of Italian culture that has informed the duo’s work, ranging from art to architecture and ballet to opera. Amongst the clothes, find work from visual artists woven between them, created in dialogue with D&G’s designs.

For those who love the fantasy and craftsmanship that goes into couture, this exhibit isn’t one to miss. And you needn't even be a devout fan of the Italian fashion house to appreciate their work – everything is truly bellissimo.

From Heart To The Hands: Dolce & Gabbana exhibition runs until Wednesday 31 July at the Palazzo Reale, Milan.
