Traditional Tailoring Ruled Supreme at the Emmy Awards
The show was delayed by last year's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike
Last night's Emmys was a big one, and not just because the audience witnessed an onstage smooch between The Bear co-stars Matty Matheson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The whole thing was a long time coming. Due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, last year's event was put on hold – which is why the big TV hits of some time ago were still picking up gongs, including the aforementioned cooking 'comedy' (it's not a comedy!) that won a load for the first and second seasons. Confusing? Yes. Entertaining all the same? Absolutely.
The red carpet was altogether less puzzling. Much like the Critics Choice Awards the night prior, the best ensembles were the more classic looks, where no brash colour palettes or garish prints were in sight. There were some variants of traditional tailoring served by Donald Glover and Colman Domingo, but their looks still leaned on the subdued side for such extraverted dressers. With plenty of black tie to feast your eyes on, we've selected our favourites from the night below.
