Everyone loves the news of a comeback, whether it’s an eighties pop band that had long been forgotten (by the masses, not the fans) or a TV show that was just too good to limit to a few seasons. Less so if it's a referendum-causing politician returning to parliament. But generally, you can bet that the re-entry of a bygone entity will be met with a gracious smile.

That's certainly the case for those in the horological-sphere, as today marks the launch of a permanent addition to the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique family. Reintroducing last year’s Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 1, which has made a comeback in two new hues.

Those who were to slow to purchase last year’s release would have been kicking themselves for missing out on owning the high-performance Calibre 1315, a self-winding movement with a five-day power reserve due to its three series-coupled barrels. The movement was first released in 2007 with the launch of the 45mm Fifty Fathoms Automatique, and marked a new generation of the iconic diving watch.

As of today, a second chance has been given to cop it, except this time, the 42mm timepiece is now available in red-gold and grade 23 titanium. Of course, all the features that made the Fifty Fathoms a time-keeping diving companion remain, like its water resistance, robust double-sealed crown and contrasting dark dial with luminescent indications, making this still a sound choice for underwater exploration – and if diving into the depths isn't your jam, then rest assured, it's just as good on land, too.

The best thing about this news? That this model is permanently here to stay.
