When he's not busy being the world's only male supermodel or wearing a different razor-sharp outfit to every single show at London Collections: Men (a genuinely remarkable feat of organisation, if nothing else), David Gandy likes to do his bit for charity.
Already a patron of the Battersea Dogs' Home, Gandy is launching the "Blue Steel Appeal" (yep, as the Zoolander-esque title suggests, it's pretty tongue-in-cheek) and will be leading the charge as the fashion industry teams up with Red Nose Day.
Gandy will be joined by fashion grandees including Caroline Rush of the British Fashion Council, fellow model Poppy Delevingne and photographer Rankin.
The first “Blue Steel Appeal” event will take place on March 7, with an eBay auction of selection of money-can’t-buy fashion items.
Said Gandy; “There are truly wonderful people in the industry and it would be great to show the public the lighter side of what we do and encourage them to join us in fundraising. If we all rally together, I know we can really help a lot of people.” See? There is more to life than being really, really ridiculously good looking.
