My five favourites - Oliver Spencer

Most Popular

With a runway show now under his belt, Oliver Spencer's star continues to rise. Having founded his label in 2002, Spencer has recently opened a shoe shop alongside his mainline store and other stores abroad. We quizzed him on his five favourite pieces from his spring collection, which have the added bonus of being available now.

1 Oliver jeans (above)

"Denim is tricky, as everyone seems to be a denim obsessive these days. I tend to think, what's the point in making a standard pair of Selvedge denim jeans when there are so many brands in the market, in particular the big US or Japanese denim producers. For the Oliver jeans, we have kept things simple but added a dash of London cheek by using a process of over dying and cold washing to lose the rigidity. It gives the denim a richness and extra quality without taking anything away from being just a good pair of jeans." (Oliver Spencer, £77)

2 Travel jacket

"I love the Travel jacket for its versatility. It's designed to be worn either for function or perhaps something a wee bit smarter. You can wear it on the move and not feel worried about looking smart at your final destination. Also, with the fabrics and cottons we have used it means that the more you wear it the better it will look, it's designed to age gracefully - unlike me." (Oliver Spencer, £202.30)

3 Fisher Jacket

"I based my design for this piece with the classic all-American baseball jacket in mind, however, we gave it enough tweaks and nudges to make it typically British. British men tend to demand that extra level of quirkiness without going too far. Well, some of us do anyway.. One last thing, I'm a sucker for a good button. As you will see with most of this collection we have used the classic football button." (Oliver Spencer,  £160.30)

4 Cricket shoes

"The Cricket is a classic Derby-style shoe that we have developed in conjunction with the launch of our new shoe shop on Lambs Conduit St. The Spencer Shoe range launched this summer and is designed to be versatile and affordable. I believe men need to have a serious think about what they wear on their feet and they should definitely pay a visit to our new store." (Oliver Spencer, £97.3)

5 Print square tee

"I simply wanted to make a summery T-shirt with an 80s influence. Bold block print with a pocket, what more can be said? It's a nice T-shirt!" (Oliver Spencer, £41)
