We were somewhat surprised by the miniature proportions of James Small's mens day stall this London Fashion Week. Considering the fact that the British menswear designer has been wowing the fashion pack for the past few seasons - and that his latest collection has been supported by both W Hotels and American Express - we were expecting something on the grander end of the fashion spectrum.
When an email outlining Small's new film project landed in our inbox yesterday evening however, it quickly became clear where all the sponsorship proceeds had gone. The film, "Journey" is a high style platform for Small's mercifully wearable (something not oft witnessed on the LFW runways) SS '11 collection.
A collaborative project between Small, Tom Beard and Kills guitarist Jaimie Hince, the film - featuring a range of Small's floral-patterned tapered trousers, leopard print shirts and nautical tees as well as a multi-purpose bespoke belt designed for the W London Insider - is a suitably fuzzy, sumer-inspired showcase for what looks like Small's best collection yet.
