A few months back, we broke the news that Italian super-brand Dolce & Gabbana was to begin designing the off-pitch outfits for their national team.
Despite the Italian side's dismal World Cup performance (not that we're in any position to judge) Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have recently been called in to work their magic with Chelsea Football Club. The pairing - which follows Giorgio Armani's past two years designing players' suits - marks the start of a three-year long partnership, which will see Dolce & Gabbana kit out the premiership team, along with all staff at Stamford Bridge.
The elegantly-cut three-piece suit, pictured above, comes finished in midnight blue matched with a blue shirt, a blue jacquard tie, black shoes and belt. The team are also to be kitted-out with an off duty outfit, consisting of a pair of jeans worn with a 'Martini' shirt and black trainers.
Domenico and Stefano said of the partnership "football players are style icons both on and off the pitch and, on top of this, there is our love of England and of London, which have always been a source of inspiration for our work.”
Given Stamford Bridge's less than shabby South West London surrounds, it comes as little surprise that the design duo have also been called upon to create a "Dolce and Gabbana lounge" within the West Stand of the stadium. Designed as an on-site "Dolce & Gabbana experience" for both players and guests, the sprawling space channels the understated mood of the Chelsea collection, complete with midnight blue furnishings, high shine metal finishes and bleached oak floors.
