Sartorial Moment of The Week

John Terry's Change of Clothes

We're still recovering from the shock of Saturday. Not necessarily the shock of Chelsea winning, it was more John Terry's speedy change of clothes that caught our eye.

In case you didn't stay for the post-match celebrations, here's a quick recap. Before the game, the suspended Terry watched the game from the stands in his match day suit (complete with tie-pin). So far, so normal. But after the game, with the trophy won, up pops Terry in pristine full kit, right down to his socks and boots.

Don't get us wrong, we're not begrudging a little celebration from the Chelsea club captain, even if he didn't play a minute of the match itself, but full kit?

It smacks a little of attempting to rewrite history. By appearing in all the celebration photos in his shirt and shorts, he was probably hoping that the fact he missed the final for kneeing someone in the leg might be lost in the midst of time. Hell, he might even forget himself a few years down the road when looking through his scrap book.

We might be being too hard on Terry, after all his suspended team-mates Ramires, Meireles and Ivanovic did the same thing and they all played a big part in Chelsea's season.

But let's use Roy Keane as a precedent. Keane was ruled out of the Champions League final back in 1999 after a yellow card against Juventus in the semi-final. He didn't celebrate afterwards, stating that he felt he didn't deserve the winning medal because he hadn't done anything. Clearly Terry felt differently.
