Fish, chips and champagne

Though he'd protest otherwise, Guy Ritchie's pub The Punch Bowl is as far from your back alley boozer as you're likely to get. Set down a picturesque Mayfair side street within a 260-year-old building, the sleb-favourite is this summer usurping warm larger and scratchings with fish & chips and champagne.

Not that we're adverse to the idea. The combination works remarkably well, the light acidity of Krug's Grand Cuvée slices through the grease of the batter and chips with ease. The highlight of the entire meal however, was a surprise - forget the Krug, never before (or since) have we tried mushy peas like them.
