In this post-Polpo world, ‘small dishes’ crop up on almost every menu in London, with varying degrees of success. Luckily, the restaurant at Japanese-inspired West London hotel La Suite West gets it right – and, thankfully, doesn’t just restrict you to minimalist plates. Big portions are available as well, and you can mix and match as you wish.
Of particular note is the lightly fried calamari with zesty yuzu-tarragon aioli; it’s zesty, crispy and without a hint of rubber. The mini filet mignon (a main course, confusingly) is magnificent, and comes coated in caramelized brie and served with honey toasted walnuts. The wine list is small but punchy, and the service is attentive. The perfect place to unwind and relax with good company.
